The 6th Chinese Enterprises Outbound Investment Conference

 

1. Time: April 18th -19th, 2012

5. Objective:

To explore business opportunities in new emerging industrial sectors in overseas market in the post-crisis era, to facilitate Chinese enterprises’ outbound investment in accordance with China’s Going Global Strategy and economic restructuring strategy.

 

6. Features:

a. Introduction of latest policies, laws and regulations in relating to encouraging Chinese companies’ outbound investments by senior officials from state commissions and related ministries;

b. Introduction of updated investment environments, opportunities and projects in foreign countries by representatives from foreign embassies and general consulates in China and other investment promotion organizations in those countries;

c. Experience sharing of the successful Chinese investors in foreign countries;

d. Introduction of investment services and exploration of technical issues in international investment by professional consulting service providers;

e. Multi-sector projects matchmaking between Chinese and foreign companies.

 

7. Events:

a. Opening ceremony, plenary session (policy release and introduction of key consulting services);

b. Parallel seminars:

-country/region based seminars including Finland, Canada, Germany, Abu Dhabi, Latin America (Chile),Africa;

-industrial sector based seminars including mining, renewable energy, bio-pharmaceutical, risk prevention and related financial service in outbound investment, overseas construction contracting cooperation and overseas investment project matchmaking;

c. Exhibition stands for investment service providers and investment promotion agencies from foreign countries;

d. Gala dinner and networking.

 

8. Delegates

It is expected that there will be around 1500 delegates from Chinese enterprises intending to invest globally, Chinese government agencies, foreign embassies and general consulates in China and other investment promotion organizations, consulting service providers home and abroad including accounting firms, law firms and consulting firms, chambers of commerce, industrial associations and trade promotion organizations.

10. Review over Chinese Enterprises Outbound Investment Conference in the past 5 years (2007-2011)

The first four sessions of Chinese Enterprises Outbound Investment Conference hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Ministry of Commerce, were successfully held in May 2007, April 2008 ,April 2009 and April 2010 respectively.

 

The conferences fell into following parts, Opening Ceremony, Forum for Government Agencies, sector-based seminars on mining and energy, agriculture, electric power, International scientific and technologic cooperation, Chinese traditional medicine, taxation, new energy automobile, region-based seminars on Canada, UK, US, Germany, France, Belgium, Korea, etc, as well as displays of consulting service providers at home and abroad.

 

Over 4000 delegates attended previous conferences. They came from Chinese enterprises, Chinese government agencies, foreign countries’ embassies and general consulates and other investment promotion organizations, consulting service providers home and abroad, CCPIT Sub-Councils and media.

 

During the past five sessions, senior officials from National Development & Reform Commission (China’s top policy making department), State Administration of Taxation, Ministry of Commerce and China Export & Import Bank introduced the latest policies, laws and regulations on encouraging and facilitating Chinese enterprises’ outbound investment. Ambassadors of US, France, Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, Ukraine and Cambodia to China, senior diplomats from another six countries’ embassies in China and senior governmental officials from France, UK, Canada, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Hong Kong were invited to introduce the investment environment and opportunities in their countries and regions. Professional managers from investment service providers including law firms and consulting firms introduced the packages of services they provide to those potential Chinese investors and discussed about some important issues in investing abroad. Some Chinese companies which have successfully invested overseas shared their investment experiences with audience. High profile foreign government leaders like Mr. Jean Chretien, former premier of Canada, were also invited to participate and deliver his speech in the 1st conference.

 

The delegates were active in raising a lot of questions to the speakers, which showed their interest and attitude in going global. The conferences also drew a lot of attention from over 50 national-level media and local media that sent journalists to the conferences for reports.
